Both the Girls and Boys Varsity Soccer Team have won their Frontier League Playoff Semi-Final matches to move on to championship games.
The Varsity Boys travelled to Belleville-Henderson on Tuesday, October 20. The Panthers had garnered the #2 seed, while our Golden Knights came into the game as the #3 seed. This game was all Copenhagen as the Golden Knights blasted the Panthers 4-1 to advance to the Championship game. Joe Murtha netted two goals and had one assist to lead the team. Their opponent in the finals is yet to be named, as #4 seed Alexandria Bay and #1 seed Lyme will not play until Thursday, October 22. The winner of that game will meet the Knights at 1 PM on the turf at General Brown to settle the championship. The Golden Knights finished the regular season tied for second place with Belleville-Henderson. Please note, there is a $4 admission charge for all specatators attending the championship match.
The Varsity Girls Soccer Team finished the regular season in first place, making them the regular season champions and the #1 seed for playoffs. They squared off against #4 seed Alexandria Bay on Wednesday, October 20 at home. The game was punctuated by some tough defense and neither side saw too many quality scoring opportunites. The game would remain in a 0-0 tie until the 65th minute when Harley Montalvo finally got the game winner. The Lady Knights advance to play in the Championship game on Friday, October 23 at 7 PM on the turf at Watertown High School. They will be facing off against the #3 seed Panthers of Belleville-Henderson who upset Lyme on Wednesday with a 4-3 score. Please note, there is a $4 admission charge for all spectators to the championship game.
