Frontier League Playoffs This Week

Posted On: Monday, October 18, 2010
By: John Cain

The Frontier League Playoffs are set to be underway for both the boys and girls soccer teams.  The Varsity Boys have qualified as a #3 seed, while the Varsity Girls have led the league start to finish and have earned the #1 seed.

The boys will lead things off as they travel to Belleville-Henderson on Tuesday, October 19 to take on the #2 seed Panthers.  Belleville-Henderson and Copenhagen actually finished the season with identical 8-5 records, but Belleville-Henderson claimed the higher seed and homefield advantage due to beating the Golden Knights in both matches the teams played during the regular season.  The winner will play in the Championship game on either Thursday night at 7 PM at General Brown or Saturday at 1 PM at General Brown.  The #1 seed, Lyme is waiting for a play-in game to be completed by Sackets Harbor and Alex Bay to determine who will recieve the #4 seed.

The girls will follow the boys on Wednesday, October 20.  The girls have garnered the #1 seed and will host their semi-final playoff game at 4 PM on Wednesday.  The Lady Knights will face-off against Alexandria Bay, whom they have already beaten twice during the regular season.  The winner of this game will play in the Championship game on Friday at 7 PM at an as of yet undetermined turf field site against the winner of #3 seed Belleville-Henderson at #2 seed Lyme.
