Pink Week Festivities Begin

Posted On: Tuesday, September 28, 2010

The 2010 Pink Week has unofficially begun as fund raising festivities begin at Copenhagen Central School.  This week and through next week, both in school and during home athletic contests, there will be two major fundraisers going on.

The first fundraiser will be a basket raffle.  Every athletic team, and many of our community organizations and businesses have donated baskets to be raffled.  Raffle tickets are $1 each and can be purchased for specific baskets.

The second fundraiser is “Kiss a Pig for Pink Week.”  Several student-athletes, coaches, and teachers have volunteered to put their name on a ballot.  Students, staff and community members are invited to spend a quarter per vote to vote on which student-athletes and teachers they want to see kiss a pig.  There will be 6 ballots, one each for the Girls Soccer Team, Boys Soccer Team, Tennis Team, Coaches, Elemntary Teachers and Middle/High School Teachers.  The following candidates appear on the ballot:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Girls Soccer candidates – Morgan Kiernan, Harley Montalvo and Cassidy O’Donnell
Boys Soccer candidates – Jacob Frith, Angelo Tan-Alberto and Phillip Clarke
Tennis Team candidates – Rebecca Edwards, Sarah Mahar and Elise Edmonds
Coach candidates – Coach Randall, Coach Henry and Coach Cain
Elementary Teacher candidates – Mrs. Strianese, Mrs. Mastascusa, Mrs. Grave, Mrs. Rarick and Mrs. Farney
Middle and High School Teacher candidates – Mr. Thomson, Mrs. Smykla, Mrs. Griffin and Mrs. O’Shaughnessy

The winner from each category will be a kissing a pig, with the winners from the players and coaches catgeories kissing the pig during halftime of one of the Pink Week night games.  The winners of the teacher categories will be kissing the pig during pink week in front of the whole student body.

Of course, the highlight of the week will be the two night games as the Girls Soccer team takes on Belleville-Henderson on Tuesday, October 5th at 7 PM.  On Wednesday, October 6th the Boys Soccer Team will get its turn as the face off against Sackets Harbor starting at 7 PM.
